Literature Review on Effectiveness of Pharmacopuncture According to Sasang Constitutional Medicine

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives: To evaluate effectiveness of one hundred thirty kinds of pharmacopuncture made of herbs used in Sasang Constitutional Medicine.
Methods: We searched at fifteen kinds of Korean oriental medical journals websites and four kinds of Korean oriental medicine databases. ’약침’, ’수침’, ’pharmacopuncture’, ’aqua acupuncture’ and ’herbal acupuncture’ were keywords. Searching period was March to April 2010.
Results: One hundred eighty three articles are searched. And these are the results. 1) A lot of Soeum herb pharmacopunctures are effective in anti-tumor, brain damage, rheumatoid arthritis. 2) A lot of Soyang herb pharmacopunctures are effective in kidney injury, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis. 3) A lot of Taeeum herb pharmacopunctures are effective in obesity, asthma, anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, rheumatoid arthritis. 4) Taeyang herb pharmacopunctures are effective in rheumatoid arthritis, amyotrophia.
Conclusions: There was similar effectiveness between oral administration and pharmacopuncture in Sasang Constitutional herbs. It suggest that pharmacopuncture could be used for Sasang constitutional disease and symptoms. Well-designed clinical studies for Sasang constitutional pharmacopuncture are needed.
